The Sabbath

Rev. Wilson Kaan

April 18, 2020

The church parking lot is contracted by a small snow removal company for the winter months, we can always count on overnight clearing of snow and no one should get stuck while dressed for services.

After a couple of unseasonal snow falls in early April, a little hill is form and well decorated the otherwise bared parking lot. The snow removal company called and asked if we would like to have the pile of snow remove and offer to so for a tidy sum.

Well, we are in a locked down situation here in Saskatoon, the lot is not being use for the last month or so, besides, the weather is now warmer, having a small hill in our parking lot is not an immediate logistic issue but rather a public statement that no gathering in this premises and not in any time soon.

No gathering in the house of the Lord does post some challenges to a pastor: “We must not quit meeting together, as some are doing.” Hebrew 10:25

The government ban of having no more than 5 people in one setting does provoke some powerful resentment and exactly what are we supposed to do with teaching in Hebrew 10:25 in contrast with the way Paul instruction to the early Christians to Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient . . .” Titus 3:1

Never mind the fact that sooner or later, some well-meaning old soul will remind me that “We must obey God rather than human beings!” Acts 5:29

For those who like to believe the pastor only work 1 hour a week now are more convinced than ever that even an hour is more than he ever did and thus, his profession is the highest paying occupation in the land.

Fear not, Jesus said: “ For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Matthew 18:20. I am thankful for the advancement of technology, prayer meetings, bible studies, meetings and Sunday services continue despise of the Nationwide lockdown. As family after family click their enter bottom and signify their participation in the service only encourage me of the bond we share.

Thank you so much for your faithfulness in participation and in giving. Jesus said: “and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. Matthew 16:18

Shalom and May the Lord by with you.
